There are many different spellings of the name Ferguson which are of no significance and in former days depended on individual choice and official blunder,
today it depends on family tradition.
The head of the family of Fergusson of Kilkerran has been recognized since the early 18th century as the Chief of the name Fergusson.
The present Chief is Sir Charles Fergusson of Kilkerran, 9th Baronet, who lives in the ancestral home near Maybole in Ayrshire, Scotland.
Membership of the Society is open to any person of Fergus(s)on descent or through marriage to the foregoing and by paying the current subscription.
The objectives, of the society are as follows:
The reviving, conserving and promoting of the interests, sentiments and associations of the Clan.
The collecting and preserving of records and of traditions relating to the history of the Clan.
The encouragement of Celtic education.
The Annual General Meeting of the Society will next be held in August 2009.
The accounts are submitted for approval and adoption, rates of subscription decided, and office bearers and committee elected.
